Our experience
We are teenagers who took a gap year in Las Vegas, and we want to share our experience. Maybe it helps someone who is thinking about doing the same. We'll talk about the pros and cons, a positive and a negative experience, and also give some advice.
Pros of a Gap Year in Las Vegas:
Exciting and full of life: Las Vegas is always busy and interesting. There are lights, music, and events every day. You never get bored!
Meet people from everywhere: I met people from many countries. It helped me improve my English and learn about different cultures.
Many job and volunteer opportunities: I worked part-time in a small café and also helped at a local community center. It helped me learn new skills and gain experience.
Fun things to do: There are great places to visit like the Bellagio fountains, museums, and cool shows (some are for all ages).
Cons of a Gap Year in Las Vegas:
Expensive city: Food, transport, and entertainment cost a lot. I had to be very careful with my money.
Some places are for adults only: Many casinos, clubs, and shows are not for teenagers, so you can feel left out sometimes.
Hot weather in summer: It gets very hot in July and August. You must drink a lot of water and stay in the shade.

Positive experience
One night, we decided to try my luck at a casino with some older friends. At first, we were nervous, but we played a game of poker, and we couldn't believe it, we won $10,000! It was an amazing moment. Everyone at the table cheered. We used the money to pay for our stay, do some trips outside the city, and save a part for the future.
Of course, gambling is risky, and we know we were very lucky. We don't recommend doing it often, but that night really changed my gap year.

Negative experience
One night, we stayed out too late. When we tried to go back to my house, our phone's battery was dead, and we got lost near the Strip. We felt scared because it was dark, and we didn't know the area well. Luckily, a friendly security guard helped us find a taxi. After that, we always charged our phone's.
Our advice
- Plan your money – Make a monthly budget and stick to it.
- Stay safe – Don't go out alone at night and keep your phone charged.
- Don't gamble unless you understand the risks – I was lucky, but it doesn't always end well.
- Join a local group – There are youth clubs and meetups where you can make friends and feel more at home.
